Thank You for visiting Awesomecollies.com. We devoted this section for our new pet owners and others who could use this information to help with their purchase and training of the new family member. There is a great deal of information with a new puppy, so we wanted to offer this information as a reference only.

If you’re one of our new owners and need further help, then either call us or e-mail us at awesomecollie2011@gmail.com anytime and leave your name and the puppy’s name. If you’re just visiting us and want to ask a question, we’ll answer the best as we’re able by e-mail. Please do not leave a reply on this site. We get an overwhelming amount of spam and it is hard to distinguish what messages are actually genuine.

This section has to deal with First Aid and we have taken precautions to be accurate and have applied some of the methods ourselves to our dogs. We wish to state that this is only our opinion and we want to inform potential new owners of precautions to consider whether you purchase from us or not.

Again, Thank You for visiting us at Awesomecollies.com.

Please note that this page is still under construction and we haven’t completed it yet.

First Aid:

Be wary of heat exhaustion, to understand more visit; pets.webmd.com/dogs/heat-stroke-dehydration-dogs

To cool a dog off quickly soak their hairless underbelly to cold water. This has the same effect as cold water to our wrists.

If you believe your dog has been poisoned and for a small fee, you can call the ASPCA poison control center anytime at (888) 426-4435. Their website is www.aspca.org/pet-care/poison-control/

Never give a dog aspirin. If you have Tramadol, use in small doses but we highly recommend consulting a Vet before use or even buying Aspirin made especially for dogs beforehand.

Find an after-hours clinic or weekend office beforehand,  just in case your Vet is not available. If money is an issue, consider the after hour fees before deciding where to go because they can be very expensive.

Never use an antibiotic salve (neosporin, etc.),  a 3% percent Hydrogen peroxide is recommended.

If your dog has an allergic reaction to food, outdoor environment, fleas, etc., over the counter Benadryl will work until you can make a Vet appointment.

Never use cotton balls on a open wound. Gauze is preferred.

If you suspect your pet has broken bones. Putting your dog on a blanket and carrying him/her in a sling is a safe mode of transport to avoid more injury.

Regardless how gentle a pet is under normal conditions, beware of biting and snarling when they are in pain.

We hope these points of interest help you in your future. Some are fact and some are our opinion but if you’re in doubt we recommend consulting your Veterinarian. Periodically, we update this list as people ask questions, so feel free to check with us occasionally.

Thank You again for visiting us at Awesomecollies.com.

We want to help you to have a companion… for a lifetime.
